Ele reprezint\u0103 un profil geologic continuu de calcar \u0219i sunt unul dintre pu\u021binele locuri din lume care m\u0103rturisesc un gigantic cataclism cosmic dat\u00e2nd de 65 de milioane de ani. Exist\u0103 doar c\u00e2teva astfel de locuri \u00een lume, dar nu sunt disponibile. \u00cen acea perioad\u0103 (perioada Cretacic &#8211; Ter\u021biar), c\u00e2nd dinozaurii erau st\u0103p\u00e2nii suverani ai P\u0103m\u00e2ntului, un uria\u0219 meteorit a aterizat \u00een Mexic, iar consecin\u021bele au ajuns p\u00e2n\u0103 la teritoriul ora\u0219ului actual Byala, care se afl\u0103 la 10.000 km distan\u021b\u0103 de la coliziune. Descoperitorul acestui fenomen natural este geologul australian Anton T. Prisinger.<\/p><p>St\u00e2ncile Albe sunt, \u00een esen\u021b\u0103, un muzeu geologic natural \u00een care pot fi urm\u0103rite diferite perioade ale scoar\u021bei terestre. Pe l\u00e2ng\u0103 st\u00e2nci \u00een sine, pe \u021b\u0103rm s-a p\u0103strat un vechi sistem de fortifica\u021bii de la sf\u00e2r\u0219itul secolului al VII-lea. Nu departe de sat, pute\u021bi vedea ruinele unei cet\u0103\u021bi romane.<\/p><p>Municipalitatea Byala a preluat ini\u021biativa pentru a p\u0103stra acest reper natural unic. Aceast\u0103 zon\u0103 a fost transformat\u0103 \u00eentr-o rezerva\u021bie natural\u0103 \u00een anul 2001. L\u00e2ng\u0103 pia\u021ba central\u0103 a ora\u0219ului exist\u0103 un stand de expozi\u021bie \u0219i informare al rezerva\u021biei, unde vizitatorii au posibilitatea de a afla mai multe despre geneza rocilor albe.
